Open the book to the title page where the mailbox is showing. Ask the students what it’s a picture of. What does it do? Why do we have them? Talk to them about how they feel when they get mail. What comes in the mail for you?

As you read make sure the students are paying attention to the illustrations and see all the “extra” stuff going on that’s not in the text.
